A Moody Baby Melvin due to the rashes on his face. Consult consultant at KKH, causes likely due to baby eczema…
Baby eczema (atopic dermatitis) is characterized by patches of red, scaly, itchy skin. Occasionally, the patches ooze and crust over. In some babies, the rash can be traced to diet, a change in formula or excessive perspiration. In other cases, the culprit is a specific laundry detergent, soap or other irritant.
To treat — and prevent — baby eczema, help your baby avoid extreme temperatures and any irritants that seem to bother his or her skin. Use a mild moisturizing soap. You might add bath oil or finely ground oatmeal to your baby’s bath. Dry your baby’s skin with gentle pats, and use generous amounts of moisturizing cream or ointment. Consult your baby’s doctor if the rash doesn’t improve or looks infected.
